Here are some really good friends of mine and very Active Citizens
Name: Brian J Smyth
County: Dublin
Are you a member of any other voluntary organisations or been involved with any in the past?
I am a member of the newly established Dublin Docklands Environmental Forum which is a group comprised of representatives from businesses based in the Docklands. Our focus is to create awareness of environmental issues in the docklands and improve the local environment for all residents and workers.
Why do you think it is important to be an active Citizen?
I think it is important to contribute to society and give something back. Whether we can give 10 hours a week or only 1 we can all truly make a difference by getting involved and becoming active in our communities. It's also very rewarding to work on a project from conception to completion and see how it benefits others.
Name: Marie Mitchell
County: Galway
Why do you think it is important to be an active Citizen?
I see Active Citizenship as being everyone's responsibility as Ireland has moved so far economically in recent times. There seems to be less time available to people. Individuals can feel more involved in their communities while gaining new expertise from working together and motoring each other. This lends itself to individual development and can only benefit society as a whole.
Lets show example instead of passing the buck. Be Active.
Some Active Citizens!
