Here are some questions that I seem to get asked all the time so I have decided to post the answers here for everyone to read.
Q. Where can I go to start volunteering and being active?
A. One great place to start volunteering is at the website www.volunteer.ie. The other place where people can start to get active is in their local JCI Ireland Branch.
Q. What difference can one citizen make?
A. It is amazing how often I get asked this question and how often people think that their actions will not have any affect on their community. I always say that every great act starts with the actions or ideas of one person. To be reassured of this all you have to do is look back through history and see how much Active Citizens like Albert Einstein, Mother Theresa and Michael Collins achieved. They achieved their great deeds by having an idea and having a burning desire to achieve this idea.
Q. When I get my Active Citizenship pack what do I do next?
A. Once you get your pack it is time to read it and to get inspired by the citizens who are in this pack and the great deeds they are doing to help Ireland become a magical community again. Then start working on achieving your pledge, the important thing to remember is that you will achieve your pledge one step at a time.
Q. What benefit is it to me to be an Active Citizen?
A. Some of the benefits of being an Active Citizen are as follows: (A) you will meet new friends (B) you will become a more rounded person (C) you will find that by being active you will find it easier to do other tasks in your life (D) being an Active Citizen looks great on your C.V. and will help you get a great job (E) most importantly the community that you live in will be a far better place.
